A first dive for people who have never dived. One morning, one instructor each, 12 m maximum, and a decision about whether you want the certification made afterwards rather than before.
This is the shortest thing we sell and the one that changes the most minds. You will be underwater for about thirty-five minutes, at a maximum of 12 m, with an instructor holding your BCD strap for as much of it as you want them to.
What actually happens
A twenty-minute briefing on land covering four things - how to breathe, how to equalise, how to clear a mask and the one hand signal that matters. A fifteen-minute boat ride. Then a slow descent down a line in water you could stand up in, and a swim over the coral once you are comfortable. Nobody makes you go deeper than you want to.
If you cannot swim
Say so. It changes nothing about whether you can do this, and it changes how we run it - one instructor to one diver, staying in the shallow half of the bay.

Between the dives
Nothing, for at least two hours. People underestimate how much a first dive takes out of them. Radhanagar in the late afternoon once you have eaten.

What the trip actually looks like once you are on the boat.
The morningBriefing, boat, and thirty-five minutes underwater
Report to the centre at 07:30. Twenty minutes of briefing, a kit fitting, and the boat at 08:30. In the water by nine, back on the jetty before noon, photographs on your phone by the evening.

From the water
Before you dive
The rules every diver on this trip is held to. None of them are negotiable, and none of them are a surprise on the day.
Minimum age
Divers must be 10 or older on the day of the dive.
Medical declaration
A medical declaration is signed by every diver. Answer yes to anything on it - asthma, heart conditions, recent surgery, pregnancy, prescription medication - and a physician's sign-off is needed before you dive. Tell us at the enquiry stage, not on the boat.Flying after diving
Leave at least 12 hours between your last dive and your flight. Book your trip home with that gap already in it - we cannot shorten it for you.
Insurance
Dive-specific insurance covering recreational diving to your certified depth is required and is not included. DAN World and DiveAssure both cover the Andamans; the nearest recompression chamber is in Port Blair.

The small print
Payment
Twenty-five per cent confirms the dates and holds your seats on the boat. The balance is due seven days before you arrive. We take bank transfer and UPI; card payment goes live when the gateway does.
Prices are per person unless the variant says otherwise, and taxes are included in the number you see.
Cancellation
Cancel more than 21 days out and the deposit is refunded in full. Between 21 and 7 days we keep the deposit. Inside 7 days the trip is charged in full, because the boat and the guide are already committed.
If we cancel a dive for weather or sea state, that dive is refunded or moved - your call, and there is no argument about it. A dive you sit out on medical advice is refunded in full.
Terms and conditions
Every diver signs a medical declaration and a liability release before entering the water. A "yes" on the medical form is not a refusal - it means a doctor signs it off first, and we will tell you that before you book rather than at the jetty.
Certification cards are checked on arrival. If your last dive was more than twelve months ago we will ask you to take a refresher, and it is chargeable.
Questions divers ask
Do I need to know how to swim?
No, but tell us. We run it one-to-one and stay in the shallow half of the bay, which is a different plan from the standard one.
Is there an age limit?
Ten and up, and there is no upper limit. Divers over 45 answer a couple of extra questions on the medical form.
How deep will I go?
Twelve metres is the maximum a first dive is permitted to reach, and most people are comfortable somewhere between six and ten.
What if I panic?
You surface with your instructor, who is holding onto you. It happens, it is not a failure, and the fee is refunded if you never leave the shallows.
Can I use my own camera?
Not on a first dive - your hands have enough to do. Your instructor shoots it and shares the frames the same evening.
