Five days on Havelock as a pair - a private guide, a small boat, shallow bright reefs, and an evening sailing with nothing scheduled after it.

The thing that ruins a honeymoon dive trip is a schedule built for eleven other people. This one is not: a private guide, a boat that carries your pair and the crew, and a plan we rewrite each morning based on what the two of you feel like.

If only one of you dives

That is the most common version of this trip and it is designed for it. The snorkel line runs off the same boat over the same reef, so the non-diver is looking down at the pair of you rather than waiting on a beach. If they decide on day three that they want to try it, the Discover Scuba dive happens that afternoon at no extra charge.

The sunset sailing

On the last evening the boat goes out with nothing on board but the two of you, a flask and the crew. No diving. It is the part of the trip people write to us about afterwards.

Between the dives

Radhanagar for the sunset on any evening we are not sailing. Kalapathar at dawn - it is empty before seven and impossible after nine. The bakery on the main road does the only decent coffee on the island and closes at four.

What the trip actually looks like once you are on the boat.

  1. ArrivalMet at Port Blair, ferry to Havelock

    We meet the flight, hand over the ferry tickets and get you across in the afternoon. Nothing else is scheduled - the first evening is yours.

  2. First waterTurtle Bay, twice

    A gentle start in the shallowest, calmest water on the island. If one of you is not certified this is the Discover Scuba dive - instructor one-to-one, feet on sand, and no obligation to go anywhere near the second dive if the first was enough.

  3. The photography dayJackson Bar with a photographer on the boat

    Two dives on the ridge with our photographer in the water. You dive normally and forget they are there; the edited set arrives the following evening. This is the day the turtles usually oblige.

    By now your guide knows what you like. Deeper if you have been comfortable, the night dive at the Lighthouse if you are curious, or the same shallow reef again if that is honestly what you enjoyed most. Nobody talks you out of the third option.

  5. Last daySunset sailing and the ferry back

    No diving - your no-fly window starts the evening before. The boat goes out in the late afternoon with the two of you on it and comes back after dark. Ferry to Port Blair the following morning.

Before you dive

The rules every diver on this trip is held to. None of them are negotiable, and none of them are a surprise on the day.

  • Minimum age

    Divers must be 12 or older on the day of the dive.

  • Medical declaration

    A medical declaration is signed by every diver. Answer yes to anything on it - asthma, heart conditions, recent surgery, pregnancy, prescription medication - and a physician's sign-off is needed before you dive. Tell us at the enquiry stage, not on the boat.

  • Flying after diving

    Leave at least 18 hours between your last dive and your flight. Book your trip home with that gap already in it - we cannot shorten it for you.

  • Insurance

    Dive-specific insurance covering recreational diving to your certified depth is required and is not included. DAN World and DiveAssure both cover the Andamans; the nearest recompression chamber is in Port Blair.

The small print

  • Payment

    Twenty-five per cent confirms the dates and holds your seats on the boat. The balance is due seven days before you arrive. We take bank transfer and UPI; card payment goes live when the gateway does.

    Prices are per person unless the variant says otherwise, and taxes are included in the number you see.

  • Cancellation

    Cancel more than 21 days out and the deposit is refunded in full. Between 21 and 7 days we keep the deposit. Inside 7 days the trip is charged in full, because the boat and the guide are already committed.

    If we cancel a dive for weather or sea state, that dive is refunded or moved - your call, and there is no argument about it. A dive you sit out on medical advice is refunded in full.

  • Terms and conditions

    Every diver signs a medical declaration and a liability release before entering the water. A "yes" on the medical form is not a refusal - it means a doctor signs it off first, and we will tell you that before you book rather than at the jetty.

    Certification cards are checked on arrival. If your last dive was more than twelve months ago we will ask you to take a refresher, and it is chargeable.

Questions divers ask

  • Neither of us has dived before. Is this still for us?

    Yes. Day two is a Discover Scuba dive for both of you, one instructor each, and the rest of the trip adapts to how that goes. Nobody is pushed deeper than they want to be.

  • Is the boat really just for us?

    Your pair, the guide and the crew. That is what the private variant means and it is the reason the number is what it is.

  • Can we upgrade to the Open Water course during the trip?

    Often, yes - it needs four days and we would have to look at your dates. The Discover Scuba fee comes off the course price.

  • What happens if one of us cannot dive on medical grounds?

    That dive is refunded in full, and the snorkel line runs off the same boat so the day is not lost. Tell us at the enquiry stage so we plan for it rather than discover it.
