Enriched air is more oxygen and less nitrogen, which means less nitrogen going into you, which means longer before your computer sends you up. At 26 m on EANx32 that difference is about ten minutes - and ten minutes on the plateau at Johnny's Gorge is a different dive.
What you learn
How to analyse a tank yourself and why nobody else's word for it counts, how to set your computer, and the maximum operating depth that comes with a richer mix. It is short, it is mostly arithmetic, and it is the most practically useful thing in the specialty catalogue.
Run it alongside anything
This course fits inside another trip - the two dives count as fun dives on whatever package you are on, so it costs you no diving days at all.

Where you train
Course syllabus
How the course runs, day by day - theory, confined water, then the open water dives.
Day 1Theory and analysis
Partial pressures without the fear, maximum operating depth, and analysing a tank yourself. Two hours, and you will use all of it.
Day 2Two dives on enriched air
Analyse, log, set the computer and dive. Johnny's Gorge on the first tank, so the extra bottom time is immediately obvious.

- Materials, certification fee and two nitrox fills. Add dives at the certified rate.
Courses start on the dates that suit you. Tell us when you are on the island and we will schedule your first session.
From the water
Before you dive
The rules every student on this course is held to. None of them are negotiable, and none of them are a surprise on the day.
Minimum age
Divers must be 12 or older on the day of the dive.
Medical declaration
Every student signs the agency medical declaration before the first water session. A yes to anything on it needs a physician's sign-off, and we would far rather see that form at the enquiry stage than at the pool.Flying after diving
Leave at least 18 hours between your last dive and your flight. Book your trip home with that gap already in it - we cannot shorten it for you.
Insurance
Student divers are covered by our centre insurance during training, which is not the same thing as personal dive cover. We recommend your own policy for the fun dives that follow.

Questions students ask
Does nitrox let me go deeper?
No - the opposite. A richer mix has a shallower maximum operating depth. What it buys you is time, not depth, and that is the point.
Do I need Advanced first?
No, Open Water is enough. It is most useful once you are diving past 18 m, which is why most people take the two together.
